FAQ · Concept
Plain answers.
This is a concept. These questions are the plumbing we can stand behind today.
Can I book a night on Marlaina?
No. This is a concept site. There is no calendar, and there is no reservation. The boat is not for hire yet.
Is there a live Kickstarter campaign?
No. There is no Kickstarter.com page to pledge on. The Kickstarter page on this site is the campaign we would run. If you want to hear when a real campaign exists, leave a note on Back this.
What is the product?
The night. A whole-boat overnight for one group. Fishing is included with the stay. Themed nights are add-ons, not the reason you come.
How many guests?
Six. Four private guest cabins. Crew sleeps in a closed cabin of their own.
Who runs the boat?
A hired, licensed 6-pack captain on every paying trip. The captain stays aboard. If we cannot hire one, we cannot run.
Where would you dock?
Ports in play are West Ocean City and Cape May. This hull does not fit Indian River.
What does Kickstarter money pay for?
Start costs. Company paper, a survey and sea trial on a hull we might buy, first insurance quotes, first slip quotes, and the work between a concept site and a boat that can take paying guests. A pledge is not a down payment on the hull.
Is this all or nothing?
When a real Kickstarter campaign exists, yes. If it does not hit the goal, nobody is charged. The goal on this site stays blank until we pick the number.
Are the themed nights for sale?
No. They are concept add-ons. You can add one to a note on Back this. That is interest, not a booking.
Is Marlaina a dive shop?
No. Marlaina is not a certified dive operation. A sportfish is not a dive boat. A dive day in the concept would run only with a hired, insured dive operator and certified guests. It is not PADI instruction, and it is not for uncertified guests.
Can the captain marry us?
No. A United States captain cannot marry people by rank alone. A ceremony can be symbolic, or it can be legal if an authorized officiant and a valid license are both in place. In Maryland the license comes from the county of the ceremony (Worcester for Ocean City). In New Jersey there is a 72-hour wait and a municipal registrar. The license is land work. This is not legal advice.
Is canyon fishing a day ticket?
No. Canyon fishing is included with the stay. It is the overnight on the grounds, not a day ticket on a head boat. It is not a tournament entry, and it is not a promise of a species.
How do I hear when this is real?
